Doors 7pm / Curfew 2am – EARLY BIRDS SOLD OUT – NORMAL PRICE TICKETS ON SALE (£25 + £1 booking fee)

During the years of World War Two, manufacture of the Gibson Banner Guitar was carried out almost exclusively by women, which, it is argued, gave the guitar a unique sound, unreproducible ever since. ‘Kalamazoo Gals’ is the story of the brilliant women who made the guitars, and author John Thomas will be showcasing the guitar at Walthamstow Assembly Hall as a prelude to our next Nighthawks event. This performance dovetails with current research into Walthamstow Assembly Hall itself, also built during the war and as such, primarily the work of the women of London. Nighthawks and WAH are delighted to welcome you to sample the delights of this beautiful venue and its reputedly unique acoustic, and invite you to answer the question: did the wartime women have a magic touch?

Join us, dress up and dance in this Art Deco ballroom, another one of London’s architectural gems!
