The Uptown Swing Dance Company was originally conceived as a dance theatre company, with the aim of marrying swing dance with physical and text-based theatre.

Our primary goal is to create art which successfully incorporates swing dance, as well as other styles of dance, with a range of traditional and innovative performance methods, for theatre, film and other media.

Like many other swing dance companies we have a strong background in cabaret-style performance, single-number choreographies and short-to-medium length shows. This will always be a part of what we do, and will continue to be a big area of focus. For more information on our shows for events, click here.

Our classes are a means of sharing our love for swing dance, and to cultivate an extra (social) dimension to our theatrical performance. And of course, they’re a means of funding our creative processes.
